NetVault: Archive provides an integrated software solution consisting of intelligently managed searchable archives and a next generation secondary storage platform. The storage platform creates a single logical view across multiple sites and heterogeneous storage devices by virtualizing all underlying storage including cloud storage infrastructures. It delivers a single interface into the archive, reducing search complexity and allowing easy application of hierarchical storage management (HSM) and information lifecycle management (ILM) policies. The open standard interfaces provide automated data migration from expensive primary to much lower cost secondary storage tiers or cloud storage environments by policy, such as age or file size. Virtualizing the underlying storage devices allows on demand disk provisioning and avoids unused space, which can occupy as much as 50% of total installed disk space in a dedicated capacity allocation. Single instance storage eliminates multiple copies of the same file, while data compression technology delivers further space saving. The simplified architecture decreases the number of locations across the organization where data is stored, reducing costs, and management overhead.

Easier Compliance

NetVault: Archive’s online client allows users to search content using an Internet style search engine. Searches are executed against the distributed metadata layer, which allows all data to be searched, wherever it may be physically or geographically located. Users are authenticated via integration with corporate directory structures and data access policies are role-based, securing data from unauthorized access.
