BakBone calls this “application-centric” policy management and we believe it leads to potential holes in compliance that go undetected for long periods of time.
We intend to provide a "data-centric" approach to creating, applying and maintaining policies across the enterprise. Our centralized policy management solutions are being designed to allow enterprises to apply and manage their policies on data, rather than on multiple disparate applications. This technology will allow applications to inherit and implement these global data-centric policies for services like: data deduplication, encryption, data protection and message archiving.
